Emergency Information for Current Students

Has the student said or done anything to indicate a direct threat to self or others?

Here are several signs of someone who may pose a threat:

  • Threatening language or behaviors
  • Feeling depressed or anxious
  • Increased substance abuse
  • Dramatic changes in mood or behavior
  • Sense of helplessness or hopelessness

If the answer is YES:

Call the ACU Police Department immediately:

If NO, please:

Submit a recommendation to the SOAR program by clicking here.

The SOAR program (Student Opportunities, Advocacy, & Resources) staff will contact the student and offer help to assess thes ituation and connect the student to the appropriate resource. For more information about SOAR, click here.

SOAR is not a 24/7 hotline, but will reach out to the student within two business days to meet with and assess the student’s situation. Students are not required to meet with a SOAR coordinator, but willreceive frequent and persistent communications until they respond.

What are other reasons to recommend a student for the SOAR program?

  • Frequently missing class, assignments, or tests
  • Financial stress
  • Low mood or depressive symptoms
  • Eating disorders
  • Family grief or other crisis
  • At risk for leaving the university
  • Social adjustment concerns
