Master of Science in Nutrition

With an emphasis on community and poverty, ACU’s Master of Science (M.S.) in Nutrition provides comprehensive coursework for those who seek further knowledge in the field of nutrition and dietetics. Your academic training will be rooted in Christian values and you will be prepared to serve the majority of the population, especially those who live in poverty.
The M.S. in Nutrition may be completed alone to achieve the M.S. in Nutrition degree, or it may be completed through the combined M.S. in Nutrition/Dietetic Internship program. If you are interested in enrolling in a master’s program without the Dietetic Internship, you’re welcome to apply for our fully online M.S. in Nutrition. This program allows you to earn your master’s degree from wherever you live.
If you are currently enrolled in a dietetic internship through an institution other than ACU or have previously completed a dietetic internship, 6 hours of credit will be awarded toward the master’s degree.
Upon graduation, this program will qualify you to sit for the Registration Examination for Dietitians if you have also completed an accredited dietetic internship.
What outcomes can you expect?
Registered Dietitian, with successful completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship and passing of the Examination for Registered Dietitians.
Admission Requirements
- A cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 and a minimum grade of B in Didactic Program in Dietetics courses and supporting courses including the sciences, statistics, and management; and
- Completed requirements in an accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics as specified by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
- A completed ACU graduate programs application for admission with a nonrefundable $65 application fee;
- Submit three letters of recommendation;
- Submit official transcript(s) in English (or translated to English) of all previous college work (official means an original with the seal that comes directly from the issuing institution to ACU). The transcript must indicate a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university; and
- Submit a personal statement. The personal statement should address the following: Short-term and long-term professional goals; how faith can inform your work in the profession of dietetics; experiences you have had working with individuals who are dealing with poverty or are at risk for homelessness and how you felt about those experiences; and your philosophy of working with the impoverished.
