Accreditation

Accreditation matters. The United States Department of Education states: “The goal of accreditation is to ensure that education provided by institutions of higher education meets acceptable levels of quality.” Accreditation fosters accountability by ensuring colleges and universities are meeting standards.

Abilene Christian University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate, baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral degrees. Many programs have received additional accreditation from the following associations:

  • The Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC)
  • American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Association of Theological Schools (ATS)
  • Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE)
  • Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET
  • Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA, formerly FIDER)
  • Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
  • Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET 
  • National Association of Schools of Music (NASM)
