Department of Communication and Sociology
The Department of Communication and Sociology equips graduates to communicate skillfully, conduct research, and think critically, globally and missionally to prepare them for service in a variety of careers. Our faculty are known for expertise and excellence in both scholarship and teaching.
Instructional facilities are located in the Sherrod Building of the Don Morris Center and include well-equipped classrooms, digital recording equipment, multimedia presentation equipment and access to computers. The department staffs and operates the ACU Speaking Center housed in the campus library. It provides expertise in all aspects of the creation and delivery of presentations.
ACU's faculty of Christian scholars and professionals are the foundation for student success. Not only are faculty members experts in their field, but they also work to build supportive relationships with their students.
Undergraduate Programs
The Department of Communication recognizes the increasingly vital role of communication in modern society. Communication permeates all social, corporate, civic, educational and religious situations, and the demand for individuals skilled in its use continues to grow. Because sociology offers special training in a broad range of social issues and competency in gathering, organizing and evaluating data, a degree in sociology helps open numerous opportunities in our information-oriented society.
